St. John’s Northwestern Students Earn Top Honors at State Solo & Ensemble Festival

Delafield, Wis. — Three students from St. John’s Northwestern delivered standout performances at the Wisconsin School Music Association State Solo & Ensemble Festival this past Saturday, earning top placements at the highest level of competition.
To qualify for the State Festival, students must first earn a starred first rating in Class A, the most advanced classification, requiring exceptional precision, discipline, and musicality.
Representing St. John’s Northwestern at State were:
Everett Mayers, trumpet — First Place
Youen Shi, tenor saxophone — Second Place
Dhruv Hardbarger, trombone — Second Place
Each student demonstrated technical excellence and artistic expression among the best young musicians in Wisconsin. Their performances reflect not only individual talent, but also the dedication and preparation required to compete at the state level. “These young men are to be commended for their outstanding instrumental skills and dedication to music. St. John’s Northwestern should be proud of how they are representing our school and its commitment to excellence through the music program,” said Conrad Jorgensen, Band Instructor.
The Wisconsin School Music Association State Solo & Ensemble Festival showcases the top student musicians from across the state, providing a platform for high-level performance and adjudication.
St. John’s Northwestern continues to foster a culture where students are challenged to pursue excellence, both in and beyond the classroom.
