The Silver Rifles are one of the most iconic and respected extracurricular programs at St. John’s Northwestern. Known for their precision, discipline, and showmanship, Silver Rifles cadets represent the academy in drill competitions, parades, and special ceremonies. Whether competing at the regional or national level or performing at campus events, members of Silver Rifles showcase teamwork, dedication, and pride in every routine.

  • U.S. military service a plus – retired or active NCOs and
    Officers are highly encouraged to inquire and apply
  • Ideal for adults looking to add meaningful purpose to their
    weekly routine
  • Coach needed for 2–3 practice sessions per week
  • Must be available to travel to up to three regional
    competitions between November 2025 and May 2026 (all
    expenses covered)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Background check required

Silver Rifles is a selective cadet team focused on regulation drill and exhibition routines using drill rifles. Members represent SJN at regional competitions and major campus events. Tryouts help identify fit. Training builds over time and often spans multiple years for peak proficiency.
