SJN to Host Senator Baldwin and Johnson’s 2025 Service Academy Day

DELAFIELD, WI (August 20, 2025) — St. John’s Northwestern (SJN) is proud to serve as the official host site for the 2025 Wisconsin Service Academy Day on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM on its historic campus in Delafield.

Co-hosted by Senators Tammy Baldwin and Ron Johnson, this annual event provides prospective applicants and their families with direct access to representatives from the United States service academies, congressional staff, and former and current cadets and midshipmen.

Participants will gain valuable insight into the nomination process, academy expectations, and life as a service academy student. The event is open to all Wisconsin students interested in applying to the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, which does not require a congressional nomination, will also be available.

“Hosting Service Academy Day is a privilege and a natural fit for SJN, given our long-standing tradition of our students obtaining primary nominations and ROTC scholarships,” said Catherine Lewis, Assistant Dean of Academics and College & Career Counselor.

In addition to service academies, this day will also provide access to ROTC battalions from top colleges in the state, such as the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette University. Recruiters from each branch of the armed forces will also be on campus to connect with students regarding simultaneous membership options and direct enlistment opportunities. No matter what pathway to service Wisconsinites choose, this event will be a great day for military engagement across the state.

SJN is honored to host this event, which aligns closely with the school’s long-standing tradition of developing principled leaders for military and civilian life.

“SJN is modeled after the United States Military Academy at West Point and provides students with hands-on leadership opportunities, self-discipline, competitive athletics, and rigorous academics needed to not only receive acceptances to Tier 1 universities and appointments to service academies, but thrive in any military or civilian path they choose,” Lewis said.

LTC Ioannis (John) Kiriazis, Commandant at SJN and a 1996 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, also expressed the significance of the event.

“As an alumnus of West Point and a retired career Army officer, I know firsthand how impactful a service academy education can be,” said Kiriazis. “This day is about opening doors for the next generation of leaders. We are proud to provide a space where students and families can connect directly with the academies and explore what service truly means.”

With over 140 years of tradition, SJN provides a safe, structured environment that prepares students with a foundation for life through leadership development, rigorous academics, and specialized programs. Many SJN graduates have gone on to attend service academies and serve honorably in the United States military.
